Music composer Amaal Mallik has made a startling revelation about his mental health and family struggles. In a heartfelt Instagram post, he disclosed his diagnosis of clinical depression and blamed his parents, Daboo Malik and Jyoti Malik, for creating a distance between him and his brother, singer Armaan Malik. Declaring that he can no longer endure the emotional turmoil, Amaal announced that he is severing personal ties with his family.
“I’ve reached a point where I can no longer keep silent about the pain I’ve endured. For years, I’ve been made to feel like I am less, in spite of spending days and nights toiling away to make a safe life for people. I have spent my blood, sweat, and tears to create each of the 126 melodies that have released over the last decade,” he wrote.
Reflecting on his career, Amaal acknowledged the success both he and Armaan have achieved but attributed their growing estrangement to their parents’ actions.
“Through the last many years, they have left no opportunity to disturb my well-being & belittle all my friendships, my relationships, my mindset, my self-confidence. But I just kept marching on because I know I can and I believe I’m unshakable.”
Opening up about his battle with depression, Amaal admitted that years of emotional distress had taken a toll on his mental health. “Today, I stand at a point where I have been robbed of my peace, drained emotionally & maybe financially too, but that’s the least of my concerns. What really matters is that I am clinically depressed because of these happenings.”

In a firm declaration, he stated that from now on, his relationship with his family would be purely professional. “This isn’t a decision made in anger, but one born from the necessity to heal and reclaim my life. I refuse to let the past rob me of my future any longer. I am committed to rebuilding my life, piece by piece, with honesty and strength.”
Amaal’s revelation has sparked widespread discussion, with fans and industry peers expressing concern and support for the musician.
