A mass shooting at a car meet in Las Cruces left three people dead and 14 others injured late Friday night, according to local authorities.
The incident occurred around 10:00 PM at a park where modified sports car enthusiasts had gathered for a monthly event, the Las Cruces Police Department said in a statement. Officers responded to reports of gunfire near a parking lot and found multiple victims.
Two 19-year-old men and a 16-year-old boy were killed in the attack, while the injured ranged in age from 16 to 36. Authorities have not yet released the names of the victims.
As of Saturday morning, no arrests had been made, but police said they were “actively following multiple leads.” The department also issued a public appeal for witnesses and video footage to assist in the investigation.
The motive behind the shooting remains unclear.
