Most foldable OLED smartphones feature a single fold point, allowing either a tablet-sized device to fold in half for phone use or a phone-sized device to fold like a flip phone. However, last year, Huawei introduced the first tri-fold phone that folds like a map, offering significantly more screen space when fully opened.

Now, Chinese smartphone manufacturer Infinix has revealed a new take on the tri-fold concept. The Infinix Zero Series Mini Tri-Fold Concept Device appears to be a standard smartphone but folds twice, transforming into a compact gadget that takes up minimal space in a pocket or bag—or even functions as a small camera.

A Concept That Redefines Mobility

As the name implies, this device remains a concept, and there is no confirmation on whether Infinix will bring it to the market. However, the company claims that adding a second hinge to a flip phone helps in “unlocking new possibilities for mobility, creativity, and functionality.”

For instance, users can bend the phone so that it stands on its own, making hands-free video calls or recordings more convenient. When needed, it can be unfolded completely to utilize the full display.

A Unique Hands-Free Accessory

The phone also features an “innovative strap accessory” that allows it to fold into its most compact form and be “securely attached” to various surfaces such as bicycle handlebars, a car dashboard, or a bag strap—ideal for hands-free camera functionality.

Additionally, the design enables the screen to fold in a way where one-third faces the user while another third is visible to someone opposite them. This setup can be particularly useful for capturing dual-perspective videos, taking simultaneous selfies, or utilizing real-time translation software for seamless conversations in different languages.
