Fans of Tamil superstar Vikram were left disappointed as his highly anticipated movie Veera Dheera Sooran faced an unexpected delay on its release day. The action thriller, directed by Chithha filmmaker SU Arun Kumar, has encountered legal trouble, pushing its theatrical debut by four weeks.
The setback comes after IVY Entertainment Pvt Ltd. moved the Delhi High Court, claiming that the film’s producers, HR Pictures, failed to fulfill their agreement to sell the movie’s digital rights before its theatrical release.

Initially, the court issued an interim stay on the release until 10:30 a.m. today, leading to the cancellation of early morning screenings across Tamil Nadu and premiere shows in the U.S. According to the latest updates, the court has now directed the producers to deposit Rs. 7 crore and submit the required documents within 48 hours. In addition, the makers have been ordered to postpone the film’s release by four weeks.
However, legal proceedings are still ongoing. “Both parties are expected to approach the Delhi High Court again at 3 p.m. today to seek an amicable resolution,” according to reports.
In a statement, veteran distributor and exhibitor Tirupur Subramaniam assured fans that the legal issues would be resolved soon. “The film will release later this evening,” he stated, though an official confirmation is still awaited.
Veera Dheera Sooran features an ensemble cast including Suraj Venjaramoodu, SJ Suryah, and Dushara Vijayan. The film marks the fourth collaboration between Vikram and music director GV Prakash Kumar, following Deiva Thirumagal (2011), Thaandavam (2012), and Thangalaan (2024). Theni Eswar has handled cinematography, while Prasanna GK has taken charge of editing. Riya Shibu is producing the film under the HR Pictures banner.
