Sunny Deol’s latest action drama Jaat hit theatres on Friday to strong anticipation, delivering a solid opening day collection. The film, marketed as a pan-India entertainer, earned ₹9.5 crore in India with an overall 12.89% Hindi occupancy, and grossed ₹13 crore worldwide, according to trade sources.

Veteran actor Hema Malini and daughter Esha Deol, who recently attended an event in Mumbai, shared their heartfelt reactions to the film’s opening performance.

Speaking to a paparazzo at the event, Hema expressed her delight at the audience’s reception: “I heard that it has opened with a very big bumper. Bohot hi achcha lag raha he ki logo ko bohot achcha lag raha hai. Dharam ji bohot khush hai. Mujhe bhi bohot khushi hai (I feel so happy that people are happy with the film. Dharam ji is also very happy). The film is so good, I believe!”

Esha echoed her mother’s sentiments, crediting Sunny’s dedication and his loyal fan base: “I am so happy and it’s all his hard work and logo ka pyaar he unke liye itna toh I am so happy that the film has opened big! That’s how it has to be with him, always.”

Directed by Gopichand Malineni, Jaat features an ensemble cast including Saiyami Kher, Randeep Hooda, and Vineet Kumar Singh. Produced by People Media Factory and Mythri Movie Makers, the film aims to deliver a big-screen experience with high-octane action and mass appeal.

Critics have praised the film for its immersive theatrical experience, with one reviewer noting, “Jaat reinforces why the big-screen experience remains unmatched. Some films just feel better in a dark theatre with surround sound. It also proves that strong entertainment value can help smooth over narrative bumps. This one’s a solid time at the movies.”
