EU Plans Massive New Tariffs After Trump's Shocking Warning Over Billions in American Goods

The European Union has announced plans to impose $28 billion in counter tariffs on U.S. products next month, retaliating against the Biden administration’s decision to slap a 25% tariff on steel and aluminum imports.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that the EU’s response is “strong but proportionate” to Washington’s actions. The tariffs, set to take effect by April 13, 2025, will hit key U.S. exports, including boats, bourbon, and motorbikes, marking the end of a previously suspended trade measure.

Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump defended the move, accusing Ireland’s tax policies of luring American companies overseas. He asserted that “the U.S. should have never allowed this” and argued that his reciprocal tariffs would bolster domestic manufacturing.

As tensions escalate, both sides are doubling down on trade barriers, fueling a deepening global trade war with significant economic repercussions.
