Bollywood filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan has come under fire for her recent comments about Holi, referring to it as a festival of “chhapri” people. As per a report by IANS, social media personality Vikash Fhatak, also known as Hindustani Bhau, has filed a complaint against her, alleging that her remarks were offensive to Hindu sentiments.
The complaint was submitted at Khar Police Station in Mumbai, with Bhau demanding legal action against Farah. He has urged authorities to take strict measures under sections 196, 299, 302, and 353 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Bhau’s lawyer stated, “The comment made by Farah Khan has disrespected the religious sentiments of Hindus. Referring to a sacred festival in such a manner is inappropriate and could lead to communal disharmony.”
What Did Farah Khan Say About Holi?
Currently appearing on Celebrity MasterChef, Farah Khan made a remark about Holi, calling it a festival of “chhapri” people. “Saare chhapri logon ka favourite festival Holi hota hai,” she said.
Her statement sparked backlash online, with several social media users expressing outrage. Many accused her of being insensitive and questioned whether she would make similar remarks about her own festivals. One user wrote, “Do you ever talk about any of your festivals? Disgusting.” Another commented, “What da heck does she mean …. Aur chhapri… ha ha ha look who’s talking.” Others also labeled her remark as inappropriate.
Farah Khan’s Comment on Udit Narayan
Farah Khan was also in the spotlight recently for making a playful dig at singer Udit Narayan amid his kissing controversy. During a gathering at her residence with close friend Sania Mirza, her son Izhaan Mirza Malik, and her sister Anam Mirza, she shared a lighthearted moment in her YouTube video.
In a viral clip, Farah jokingly referenced the controversy when she asked Izhaan to give her a kiss on the cheek before handing him a ball. As Izhaan reached for the ball, she said, “First you have to give me a kiss, you know that.” Sania added, “Or give a hug.” Farah then quipped, “Come on, do a Udit ji on me!” which made Sania burst into laughter.
