Jonathan Majors is attempting a comeback in Hollywood just months after his conviction for assault and harassment. Despite the controversy surrounding his legal troubles, the actor insists he has changed.
A Career in Crisis
Majors, once on track for superstardom with Marvel and an Oscar buzzworthy performance in Magazine Dreams, saw his rise derailed following his 2023 arrest. In December, he was found guilty of misdemeanor assault and harassment for striking his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari and breaking her finger. Additional allegations from former partners Emma Duncan and Maura Hooper surfaced during his trial, painting a troubling picture of repeated abuse.

As part of his sentencing, Majors completed a year of domestic violence counseling. Now, as Magazine Dreams prepares for release, he is carefully re-entering the public eye—but his attempts at redemption have hit new roadblocks. On Monday, Rolling Stone published an audio recording in which Majors is heard acknowledging Jabbari’s description of being strangled and shoved against a car, contradicting his previous denials.
A Carefully Worded Comeback
In an interview with The Associated Press on Wednesday, Majors declined to comment on the recording or directly address the allegations. “I can’t answer that,” he said when pressed.
Instead, Majors focused on his personal growth, saying he barely recognizes his past self. “I said to my wife the other day, I’ve changed. I don’t recognize myself. I don’t recognize that guy. I’m in a completely different place.”
Despite never explicitly admitting to any wrongdoing, Majors insists he has reformed. “I’ve had two years of deep thought and mediation and rumination on myself and my actions, my community, my industry. I’m stronger now. I’m wiser now. I’m better now.”
Still, many remain skeptical of his comeback. While Majors pushes forward, the conversation around his past actions continues to cast a long shadow.
