A viral audio clip has surfaced featuring comedian Kunal Kamra in a heated exchange with an alleged supporter of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The caller, purportedly angered by Kamra’s recent jokes mocking Shinde, issued threats, drawing sharp reactions from political circles and social media users.

The conversation begins with the caller confronting Kamra about his remarks on “Shinde saab.” In response, Kamra is allegedly heard correcting him, saying, “Isn’t he Deputy Chief Minister now?” The situation quickly escalates as the caller resorts to abuse and warns Kamra that he would meet the same fate as Habitat Studio, which was recently vandalized by Shiv Sena workers. “Tu jidhar milega na b**we, tera bhi vo he haal hoga (Wherever I find you, you’ll meet the same fate),”* the caller allegedly threatens.

When asked about his location, Kamra retorts, “Aaja Tamil Nadu, main yahi milunga (Come to Tamil Nadu, I’ll meet you here).” Despite repeated questioning, Kamra maintains his stance, further intensifying the viral moment.

The clip has been widely shared, with many opposition leaders and social media users finding humor in the exchange. Congress leader Supriya Shrinate shared the clip, commenting, “Amazing comedy going on.”

Kamra’s Joke Sparks Controversy

The controversy erupted after Kamra took an indirect dig at Shinde during his stand-up performance. Through a parody song, he mocked a “leader from Thane” who had switched sides to align with the BJP, subtly referencing Shinde’s political moves. He also made remarks about the Deputy Chief Minister’s physical appearance and his ties with Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis.

Shiv Sena supporters reacted strongly, vandalizing the Mumbai studio where Kamra performed. Following the incident, an FIR was lodged against the comedian based on a complaint by Shinde Sena MLA Murji Patel.

Twelve Shiv Sena workers, including Rahul Kanal, were arrested for the vandalism but were granted bail within hours.

Amid rising tensions, Kamra has informed the police of his willingness to cooperate with the investigation. However, he has made it clear that while he respects the law, he will not issue an apology for his remarks. He is currently not in Mumbai, and authorities have yet to determine a date for his appearance.

The controversy continues to fuel discussions on political satire, freedom of expression, and the reactions of political supporters to criticism.
