In an unexpected behind-the-scenes revelation, Robert Pattinson turned to Zendaya for guidance while filming their highly anticipated movie, The Drama. The film, which follows a couple facing a dramatic twist just before their wedding, presented several emotional challenges—but one particular scene left Pattinson feeling frustrated and overwhelmed.
Zendaya Helps Pattinson With a Scene That Drove Him ‘Crazy’
In an interview with French magazine Premiere, Pattinson admitted that a specific scene had been driving him mad. “We had a scene together that was driving me crazy. I was desperately looking for its meaning, writing pages and pages of textual analysis,” he revealed.
Unable to shake his doubts, the Batman star reached out to Zendaya for help the night before filming. “I ended up calling Zendaya the night before shooting the scene. I shared my doubts with her, I spoke for two hours, and after a while, very calmly, she made me understand that the line just said what it meant to say, that there was no hidden meaning,” he explained, as reported by The Independent.
Pattinson’s On-Set Anxiety: ‘I Nearly Had a Mental Breakdown’
This isn’t the first time Pattinson has spoken about his intense approach to acting. While filming Die, My Love, a marital drama directed by Lynne Ramsay, he admitted experiencing a near “mental breakdown”—particularly over an unexpected dancing scene.
Reflecting on the moment, he shared, “I did this movie with Lynne Ramsay, and she’s a really good dancer. And Jennifer Lawrence is a really good dancer. They just find it so easy.”
However, Pattinson found the experience overwhelming. “They’re like, ‘Just dance, it’s just music playing, just dance.’ I was like, ‘I’m going to have a mental breakdown when this happens. We need to either choreograph it or cut it.’ And they’re like, ‘No, just dance, stop being all freak.’ It came to the day, and I was sweating so much, the insides of my trousers, with sweat, were wet.”
From emotional turmoil on The Drama to dance-induced stress on Die, My Love, Pattinson’s dedication to his craft remains evident—even if it sometimes pushes him to the edge.
