New and Noteworthy This Weekend

Side Quest (Apple TV+)

This four-part anthology series, a spinoff of Mythic Quest, is now streaming. Created by Ashly Burch, John Howell Harris, and Katie McElhenney, Side Quest expands on the gaming world of its predecessor. It holds an impressive 92% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Studio (Apple TV+)

Seth Rogen stars in and co-created this satirical comedy about the film industry. The show follows Matt Remick (Rogen), the new head of the fictional Continental Studios, as he navigates Hollywood’s obsession with formulaic success. Featuring an all-star cast—including Catherine O’Hara, Kathryn Hahn, and cameos from Paul Dano, Martin Scorsese, and Charlize Theron—the series has been well-received by critics (94% on Rotten Tomatoes) but has a more mixed audience score (68%).

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Road Trip (Disney+)

A sequel to the 2014 film based on the beloved children’s book, this Disney+ original movie offers a lighthearted family adventure. Reviews are mixed so far, but it could make for fun weekend viewing.

MobLand (Paramount+)

This crime drama, produced by Guy Ritchie and written by Ronan Bennett (Gunpowder), centers on a London crime family led by Conrad Harrigan (Pierce Brosnan) and his wife Maeve (Helen Mirren). Tom Hardy stars as the family’s fixer, Harry Da Souza. Originally conceived as a sequel to Ray Donovan, the project evolved into a standalone series.

Holland (Prime Video)

Despite a 31% Rotten Tomatoes score, this psychological thriller starring Nicole Kidman and Matthew Macfadyen has generated buzz. Directed by Mimi Cave, Holland explores the dark secrets of a seemingly perfect suburban family.

The Life List (Netflix)

This film follows a woman revisiting her teenage bucket list, sparking unexpected life changes. While early reviews are mostly negative, it’s still stirring conversation—one headline even claimed, “Women are breaking up with their boyfriends after watching.”

Bosch: Legacy – Season 3 (Prime Video)

The Bosch sequel series has been a hit with fans, delivering a fresh take on the LAPD detective’s story. Season 3 continues the momentum with strong reviews.

Transformers One (Prime Video)

This prequel explores the origins of Optimus Prime and Megatron. With some of the best reviews in Transformers franchise history, it’s now available for streaming.
