The video opens with a dramatic narration: “In the cold silence of the Tundra, a bond was born. Not from treaties or trade, but from blood and bravery.” It recounts Greenland’s role in World War II when Nazi Germany sought to control the Arctic and the U.S. intervened “not to conquer, but to protect.”

It also details the tragic loss of nearly a thousand American soldiers and four chaplains in 1943 after their ship was torpedoed by a Nazi U-boat. The video then draws parallels to modern times, warning of “threats from Russian aggression and Chinese expansion” and urging unity for “peace, security, and the future.”

Trump: “We Need Greenland for Security”

Vice President JD Vance Visits Greenland

Vice President JD Vance is currently visiting Greenland, which remains a semi-autonomous territory under Denmark but has long sought full sovereignty. During his visit, Vance echoed Trump’s sentiments, saying, “The president is really interested in Arctic security, as you all know, and it’s only going to get bigger over the coming decades.”

Ahead of Vance’s trip, Greenland’s new coalition government reaffirmed its ties with Denmark for the time being. After his visit, Vance reposted Trump’s video and added, Usha and I are on our way home from an incredible journey to Greenland. We can’t wait to come back again soon. America stands with Greenland!”
